There are so many things to be excited about! I just attended this very cool discussion on sustainable development (SD), which asked the question “is Sustainable Development possible or a pipe dream?” I found the discussion particularly interesting because the research question for my undergraduate thesis is: what are the barriers to explaining the concept of sustainability to various publics?
To me, and according to the literature, the concept of SD is rather ambigious, which may be limiting it’s adoption as a tool in environmental protection. Today, some of the panel members mentioned that ambiguity might be a strength! Ambiguity may be strength in that organizations & countries can give SD their own definition/DNA in a kind of developmental sovereignty…
And now I have another angle of SD to explore! Just sayin. :)
